Bronze Wahatchee

Award Roster

The Bronze Wahatchee is awarded to individuals who have significantly contributed as a volunteer to the improvement of the Signal Corps community. This award is not intended for members of the Signal Regiment. This award is meant to recognize Spouses, Family members, or any other volunteer who is not eligible to join SCRA.
The major difference between the Bronze Wahatchee (BW) and the Silver Wahatchee (SW) is the level of participation. The BW awardees provide services that positively impact the Regimental community. The SW awardees help provide the policies, direction, and necessary resources to influence the services to positively impact the Regimental communities. The awards are not based on the rank of the SCRA member.
The Wahatchee Award, named for Georgia patriot Nancy Hart, is a Signal Corps award given to people who exemplify the volunteer spirit and have given long-term service to improve the Signal Corps community.

Bronze Wahatchee Sample Write-Up:
Ms. Snuffy is a spouse and very active volunteer in the 57th Signal Company, 40th Signal Battalion Family Support Group (FRG) at Fort Hood, TX. She is always first to volunteer for any task needed to support the company. Of note, she served as the FRG fundraiser coordinator raising money for the annual Signal Ball. She participated in two different bake sales and multiple car washes. Through her efforts, the individual cost of the Signal Ball was lowered by $20 per person. Ms. Snuffy also volunteers with the Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers (BOSS) program. She holds a monthly supper meal event at her house, often feeding 10-15 Soldiers. Additionally, she volunteers to help families with small children, by babysitting or preparing meals for new parents. Her conduct and example bring exceptional credit to SCRA, the Signal Corps, and the US Army.
